What to Expect from an In-Person Class at Touchstone Pilates

As more and more businesses open, Pilates in Pittsburgh is safely reopening for everyone to align their mental and physical health. At Touchstone Pilates, we have strict protocols that our staff will follow to ensure that you are protected during your session. In addition, our instructors offer a range of classes that fit any skill level, which can be ideal for those looking to get into shape and break out of their homes. Take a look into what kind of sessions and classes we are offering, along with the COVID-19 guidelines we are following.

COVID-19 Protocols at Touchstone Pilates

We ensure that all equipment is cleaned and sanitized after each class. 

Pittsburgh Pilates studios and studios worldwide use various machines and apparatus to offer the most supportive and transformative session. All apparatus is cleaned after every use. At Touchstone Pilates, we will be limiting class sizes to 5 people. In addition, all staff and apprentices will be required to wear a mask at all times in the studio. There are many more precautions that are taken to ensure the safety of our staff, along with the attendees of every class. Along with minimizing the number of people to a class, here are other guidelines we will be following:

  • Hand sanitizing solutions are available in the studio
  • Cleaning and disinfection of all surfaces and apparatus are regularly conducted throughout the studio
  • The studio will be well-ventilated with ample room to practice social distancing 
  • Air-purifying equipment is used throughout the studio
  • If you are feeling sick with fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, or other COVID-19 related symptoms, we ask that you please do not visit the studio

Private Sessions at Touchstone Pilates

Gain strength and understanding with a private lesson in our Pittsburgh-based Pilates studio.

We usually recommend that clients who are new to Pilates take at least five private sessions to build strength and skill before moving to the group classes. The private sessions allow our instructors to give you individualized attention and direction to ensure that you get the most out of each exercise. Not only will you gain a better understanding of your body, but you will build a powerful relationship with your instructor. This relationship will allow your instructor to offer valuable modifications or different exercises based on your body’s needs and capabilities. 

Group Classes at Touchstone Pilates

Increase your understanding of Pilates with a group class. 

Currently we are offering two group classes at Touchstone Pilates — a mat fundamentals class and an open level mat class. The mat fundamentals class is a beginner class that focuses on alignment and form. You will learn to engage your powerhouse properly, get stronger, toned, and improve your flexibility. This class will offer an education on the fundamentals of Pilates, provide a strong foundation and the benefits of each exercise. You will also learn why consistent mat work is crucial to equipment performance. 

After you have gained experience with Pilates and are ready for new challenges, the next step is an open-level mat class. The open level mat class is an intermediate-level class that includes specific advanced exercises based on class progress. Before taking the class, you will have to have a complete understanding of the intermediate mat
